FLU features

This guide will illustrate all the other possible operations that can be performed with Fluentis Live Update.

Fluentis live update repository

This section of the FluentisLiveUpdate is useful if you want to check if downloads of Fluentis patches/versions are completed.

For example, if you want to know if the patch 0012 of the 545 version of Fluentis has been downloaded, enter the product in the drop-down menu, in this case Fluentis 2015. Once the product has been selected, the versions will be loaded, select the one concerned. Same thing for the patch too.

At the top you can then click on two operations:

Relase components: you will see if all the files of the selected version have been downloaded. Patch components: you will see if all the files of the selected patch have been downloaded.

In the IsDownloaded column, if there is a check as in the figure, it means that the patch has been downloaded to the repository.

Auto Discover

This function is always present in the screen under the environments section.

Clicking it, opens another screen that by typing the server name and then clicking on Discover to search if there are any environments already present and automatically create ARM servers and cluster.

When you have loaded ARM server and Fluentis collection you will be able to click on confirm (below) and records ready for installation will be created automatically in FluentisLiveUpdate.

Check Integrity

This function is present both with the ARM server and in the Fluentis cluster by pressing the arrow with which it updates.

It allows you to check the standard .dll if they are aligned with the cluster version and patch. If there are custom .dll in the Fluentis cluster, obviously it will not recognize them as .dll correct as non-standard.

This is the message that appears at the end of the verification to understand that everything is aligned correctly.

Move Cluster

Move cluster is an operation possible only within Fluentis Cluster. Allows you to move the cluster and hook it to an ARM server of a higher version only in order to be able to update it if there are multiple ARMs on the same server.

In the example below, the move cluster command was launched from a 543 cluster 543 and we can only move it to 544 or 545 clusters. There must be the ARM server where you can move it.

Customizations (only for custom .dll)

These three operations can only be performed from a Fluentis cluster. They are used only in custom cluster case.

Install Customization: installs the custom .dll in the selected cluster if they exist configured correctly as shown in the image under the two items highlighted.

Save Customizations: allows you to download a .zip folder containing the custom .dll. This operation must be used if you compile on an internal server and then go to the client's server and apply the custom .dll.

Upload Customizations: allows you to upload the .zip file with the generated custom .dll to the cluster with the previous command.

Warning

To load custom .dll, the cluster on which you are going to load must be aligned (same version and patch) as the development one.

Initialize pool

This operation can only be done from a Fluentis cluster. In the first stage installation creates the pool and site avoiding to do the install twice.

This operation can only be done from a Fluentis cluster. If not installed in phase, the first installation allows you to install the BizLink service (a Windows service).

Update compile folder (Solo in caso di dll custom)

This operation can be performed only in the database part if defined as type development. The compile folder is updated with the latest custom files present in deploy. This should always be done when new developments are made and you need to fill in, or also when updating the version of a custom database.

Altre operazioni sul database

  • Move: allows you to move a database from one cluster to another of the same version or higher.

  • Clone: allows you to copy the database to another cluster of the same version or higher.

  • Backup: allows you to backup the database according to the server settings on the folder indicated in the FluentisLiveUpdate (you can see it in the changes of the db).

  • Install Olap: allows you to install the FluentisOlap service in order to work with the cubes of the business intelligence. It is required as a prerequisite, and it's a SQL Server feature; analysis service has to be installed. If you have any doubts during the installation phase, you can search in the official Microsoft documentation.

  • Align Database: allows version and patch alignment of the database with Fluentis cluster version and patch. This can be very useful when a customer provides a database (on which developments or tests will be carried out) and we hook it to the cluster. Asks if you want to backup before proceeding.

  • Check Integrity: allows you to check that the database is aligned with version and patch related to the cluster to which it is attached.

Summing Up

The guide lists all the other operations that are present within FluentisLiveUpdate. Many are useful only in the case of large servers, particularly if in cloud. Others are useful only if there are customizations to be able to move from development to test to production.
